what is semester@sea?
Semester at Sea is a 100 day study abroad program aboard a cruise ship with 700 other students from all over the United States and the world. The ship named Explorer circumnavigates the world by two possible routes.
Traditionally, fall semester voyages have begun on the west coast of the United States and travel to Asian countries such as Japan, Russia, China, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Indian subcontinent. The fall voyage continues through the Suez Canal to Mediteranian countries such as Egypt, Isreal, Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Spain and round Africa to reach Morocco before returning home to Florida.
Spring voyages traditionally start in the Carribean and travel to countries such as Cuba, Venezuela, Brazil, then to South Africa and Kenya before traveling to the same Asian countries as in the fall semester.
All in all, you will visit roughly 10 countries in one semester. Courses are taken on the ship for college credit. Once you are in the country, you can do whatever you want!
