This was originally going to be my donation to this year’s Woman of Wonder benefit auction, but I didn’t finish it in time. In fact, I’m not entirely sure it’s finished yet. I’ve already re-drawn it a couple of times, but the pose just feels stiff. At this point, I’m ready to move on to something else so I’m posting it here so it won’t go completely to waste!
Anyway, I wanted to draw X-Men’s resident badass Storm in a funny situation. I figure in this scenario, she’s undercover (in her classic 80s gear) and a sudden rain hits. Since it’s hard to keep your cover when your eyes go completely white, she gets soaked.
I did this in pencil and water color and messed up a couple paintings by over-saturating the paper. You can see on the edges of the drawing above that I was close to over-warping the paper on this one. In this version, I used a couple thin strips of tape to mask the paint and complete the downpour feeling. The finished drawing is 9″x12″.
